Lethal footpath closure

Reported via mobile in the Pavements/footpaths category by Phil Livingstone at 16:11, Saturday 10 September 2022

Sent to Royal Borough of Greenwich less than a minute later

I have just turned in my car from John Harrison way onto west parkside and came as close as it it possible to do so to killing or seriously injuring two pedestrians.

The pedestrians stepped out in front of the car after the traffic light for my car had turned green and I was driving towards the traffic lights within the speed limit and about to make my turn.

Neither pedestrian saw my car. I had to use my horn and perform an emergency stop. They were terrified.

This is not their fault.

This is wholly the fault of Greenwich Council for permitting boardings that are 100% opaque to be erected up to the very corner of the junction. An entire pavement has been removed along west park side without resident consultation.

The pedestrian crossing is still there and working despite parts of the pavement apparently being closed. It encourages pedestrians to still try to cross.

Get a grip before someone dies - YET AGAIN at this junction.
