  • This is the latest drivel from the council which is not correct as the caravan in merriman rd is not a motor vehicle as it has no motor it is classed as a trailer . Subject: RE: Caravan (Case Ref: ZA48656)

    Dear Clive

I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this one.

There are no powers for us to use in terms of abandonment as the caravan has been claimed and we are aware who the owner is.

I have tried to find out some more information about the rules that need to be adhered to when parking a caravan and the only reference I can find about lights in the Highway Code is the following. This says that if a road has a greater speed limit of 30 mph, parking lights need to be on at night. As far as I know Merriman Road would be either a 20 or 30 mph road, so these rules would not apply. The police would be the enforcing body for matters of the Highway Code I believe. Rule 249

All vehicles MUST display parking lights when parked on a road or a lay-by on a road with a speed limit greater than 30 mph (48 km/h).

  • Greenwich council, it is classed as a trailer (you idiots), thus can be removed.

Remove it ASAP, as it’s an damned eyesore and had been sitting there for weeks.

Please provide a contact number/email of the team I can send a complaint to about the poor way this issue has been handled.

More importantly though, remove the caravan/trailer ASAP!

  • Greenwich council can you let the public know how you got them to remove the caravan from Dursley rd as you put tickets on it that you was going to remove it .As employees for the council you work for the ratepayers of Greenwich and nothing should be hidden from the public eye

  • Hi,

If a vehicle/caravan is not claimed then we have powers to remove it. This caravan has been claimed therefore we have no powers to remove
