Large oblong manhole cover in Charlton Road near 10 Charlton Road : massive banging sound with every vehicle passing

Sent to Royal Borough of Greenwich less than a minute later

This manhole or metal services cover makes a massive banging sound when vehicles pass over it. Annoys neighbours living nearby as happens 24/7 and the louder the heavier the vehicle.

Needs fitting to tighter of baffling material fitted to the lid, base interface.

Just got there to hear it. Such movement is never good anyway as implies wear and possible collapse one day.

  • Can see no attempt at fixing this. Still making same noise when observed at 0010 hrs this morning. Not even an markings on the road implying there is planned work.

  • At 18.10.21 no sign of any repairs and the banging sound is louder implying further wear to the metal cover.

  • No change - if anything wear is causing even louder bang with every traversing vehicle. Any Greenwich Council action please?

  • I only prompted with a FMS update on Saturday. Noisy bangs from manhole cover getting worse and no sign of any visit or action being taken.
