Pavement Issues

Reported via mobile in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 18:07, Monday 6 September 2021

Sent to Royal Borough of Greenwich less than a minute later

As reported, cars are being fixed on the roads and footpaths on Riverdale/Saunders Road. It’s illegal, dangerous and a hazard. Now school is back it’s dangerous for children and parents alike to have to 1. Walk in the road as the footpath designated for them to walk on “safely” is now covered in tools and oil and 2. Risk injuries because of said tools, oil spills and other hazards that wouldn’t be there if the mechanic wasn’t using the street for a workshop. Fix the issue, it’s literally been reported so many times and God help you if someone gets hurt due to YOUR negligence.

Repairing vehicles Repairing vehicles in the street as part of running of a vehicle repair business is an offence.

However, if a private individual repairs their own vehicle in the street and it causes a nuisance to people who live nearby, it can still be an offence and reported.

The law is not aimed at roadside repair organisations or mechanics repairing broken down vehicles at the roadside as long as the work on the vehicle is completed within 72 hours.
