The location is the A102 footbridge between Commercial Way and Tunnel Avenue near the Odeon cinema. The stair is on the top flight on the C. Way/Odeon side. The metal strip is partially detached and flapping around. It moves when you tread on it, I was momentarily unbalanced but someone could very easily slip and fall down the stairs. For example someone who has balance or mobility issues, or if they are carrying a heavy or large load (such as something from B&Q or IKEA!), or just someone coming the other way, down the steps, as the steps are then well below your natural eyeline. You can see in the pictures the gap is not superficial, but big enough that significant things could definitely be caught in it, e.g. the tip of a walking stick, a high-heeled shoe or a flip-flop. Not sure how long it has been like that, as it isn't a route I normally use.
