Abandoned caravan on Dursley Road
Reported via desktop in the Abandoned vehicles category anonymously at 11:40, Wed 24 March 2021
Sent to Royal Borough of Greenwich less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2630418.
This caravan has been abandoned for over a year now. It has been vandalized with offensive graffiti and tires are all deflated as well. It is also causing access issues to Dursley Gardens for refuse collection and deliveries. Also, it is offensive to have to look at this every day for private residents

Please can you ensure this caravan is removed? If that,'s not possible, can you please remove the offensive graffiti?

Thanks for posting this. Yes, that van is rotting on the street, does not allow much manouvre space to Buses and Garbage trucks and no one knows what or who is inside.

We have to look at this every day. It’s not nice to open the curtains and this is the first thing to see every morning.

Please remove the offensive graffiti from this caravan. It looks very ugly and is running the view. Street looks dirty because of it.

There is a council removal notice on the caravan from over a month ago (dated March 11) but nothing has been done yet, the caravan is still there, today our big delivery had to be left on the main road as the delivery track couldnt get into our Dursley gardens close because of the caravan, which has caused us big inconvenience, this is now beyond my comprehension - why nothing has been done yet, can someone please tell me what else do we the residents need to do for this to be resolved??!!

I saw the delivery truck not being able to get into the road today too and the Council refuse collection lorries often have trouble too. We wake up to this eyesore every morning. Please can it be sorted out?

I second the frustration of the comment above. The removal notice is past the due date. The problem is real and is causing issues. I understand the letter from the van owner attached below the removal notice. But also there is no good reason to trash the neighbourhood.
Plenty of time was given to remediate the situation, not just since the removal notice expiration but from the day the van was parked there more than a year ago and we saw no goodwill from the owner to do anything about it.
Now, the van must either be moved by the owner or removed by the Authorities asap.

The owner of the van has claimed it therefore it’s no longer deemed as abandoned

Has the "owner" of the van provided the legal documentation that proves the ownership of the van?

I thought a caravan had to be attached to a car on residential roads?
Please tell us the council isn't just leaving it like this?

Has the owner 'claimed' it just by attaching that letter - which anyone could have done really, it doesn't prove he is the owner, OR has he actually provided the ownership documents - since he says on the letter that he actually 'lost the documents during the move'?? Also, the owner doesn't even live here so basically it means anyone can just go randomly to wherever they find it convenient to leave their abandoned vehicles - that should certainly be illegal??!! Even if he did live around here, and was able to claim the ownership, still it should not be allowed to have a caravan parked on a public road where it is causing access issues.
