Public park used as an illegal car park.
Reported via desktop in the Parks/landscapes category anonymously at 10:19, Tue 27 October 2020
Sent to Royal Borough of Greenwich less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2359053.
Public park used as an illegal car park.
I refer here to the park/grassed area with trees between Egremont house and Morden Hill/ Rosewood Gardens.
Sixteen cars were illegally parked here this morning, including a brand new, high-end Mercedes convertible; some may be commuters from the nearby DLR.
Cars cover a large section of park and are churning up and destroying the grass and blocking access to park users. This is a public park for the benefit of all, not a car park.
Vehicular access needs blocking with heavy concrete traffic barriers or metal posts: these need to be very sturdy as they’ll be vandalised by those parking here.

Public park used as an illegal car park. Update: Weds 4 Nov 20
This morning, at 9.33 am, observed the owner of black VW estate Reg: GJ70 ZXP (pictured) park illegally on Park area, then directly head off into the Silkworks apartment buildings opposite, where he no doubt lives... Hence, be aware that many parking here may not even be residents of the council estate, so it would be a good idea to also post notices on their vehicles and/ or at the entrance to the area.
Thanks greatly to S from RBG for taking action on this matter. Please note points about blocking access below or the council's efforts/ funds will be wasted. ===================================

Update: 5 Nov 20
Same cars parked here as earlier: warning letter being ignored apparently. The only way to prevent this is to install vandal proof barriers blocking both entrances.

Issue resolved. Great job by S.S & the RBG Street team. Thanks greatly listening to resident’s input and saving this park from destruction by the selfish behaviour of a few. Best wishes.
