Large japanese knotweed infestation
Reported in the Parks/landscapes category anonymously at 16:55, Tue 14 July 2020
Sent to Royal Borough of Greenwich less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2200348.
There is a large growth of Japanese Knotweed stretching along the pavement at the back of the nursery school by the carpark all the way down to the back of the flats on Plumstead High st.
Directions - At the end of Strandfield close, turn left into the car park behind the nursery school. then turn immediately right along the pavement, following the fence on the right hand side, as though walking across the grassy patch. The knotweed is most prevalent by the lampost but there is evidence of growth all the way down to the wall of the flats.

It looks like the Knotweed on the public streets has been treated with weed killer, but there is a large growth behind the fence on the Community Hall grounds. As the weed is very invasive and can spread even through concrete, it's unlikely the problem will be resolved unless it is treated on both sides of the fence. Knotweed has a huge effect on property values and can cost thousands of pounds to treat effectively. It is actually illegal to allow it to spread on to some one else's property as it can render the land unsaleable. I hope the council do a better job on this than they seem to be.

Knotweed infestations can take years to eradicate. It appears that these weeds have been treated and will need ongoing attention for a while.
