The tree are within a woodland areas to the rear of Warren Court. RBG follows the below protocol with regards any request to pruning.
Trees should not be pruned on a regular basis if there are no recognisable defects as this will ultimately lead to future issues – especially with certain species (Horse Chestnut, Poplar etc). This is fully supported by the National Tree Safety Group Guidelines and BS3998:2010 ‘Tree Work Recommendations’, both of which our team follows.
As trees age their extension growth lessens, undertaking heavy pruning will remove apical dominance and lead to rapid reaction growth that ultimately leads to a thicker/denser tree than before works were undertaken (this will also stimulate fruit/nut production). Heavy pruning can also lead to the ingress of fungal fruiting bodies (e.g. exposed heartwood and weak co-dominant branch unions).
Housing trees (e.g all estates and tenants properties) are pruned or removed on the basis of identified structural defect / physiological condition or proven damage to property; they are not generally removed/pruned for reasons of light, shade, t.v reception, leaf fall, dominance etc.
