Public Litter Bins Needed
Reported in the Rubbish (refuse and recycling) category anonymously at 12:16, Wed 19 June 2019
Sent to Royal Borough of Greenwich 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1666774.
There is always a big problem with rubbish around on whole streets, walking paths: Foxglove Path, New Acres Road, following the canal. These walking paths are 0.5 miles long per each and there is not any single litter bin. The streets are busy because of the nearby primary school at the first place, the bus stops and nearby shopping area. There is only one litter bin at bus stop: Barnham Drive, and the next one is only at the park next the Gallions Lake. There was a litter bin at bus stop J: Merbury Road but this one has been removed. I marked on the map where the busiest corners, where the litter bins are definitely needed. Please give chance to the people to collect litters in the right way. Thank you in advance.

We have spoken to Peabody who maintain all the green verges that run along the canal but Greenwich are responsible for the pavements,
We have tried bins in this area before but residents in the local area use these bins for house hold waste and flytipping so attracts more mess to the area,
We will have a walk around the area and try to install bins to keep litter down.
The bin at the busstop was removed as residents was dumping black bags next to it attracting vermin to rip the bags open

It’s bad to hear this. But, we all pay council tax which includes keeping our streets clean. We deserve public bins like all people in Greenwich. Just because some people have this behaviour, starts flytipping around bins (which are regular problem without bins, photo shows) and bring household litters (maybe their household bins are not been empty regularly they should... it also happened this area) it doesn’t mean that you should punish all residents of this area with leaving litters all the way around. Should we sign a petition to get and can keep public litter bins on our streets?

Hi,
We only tend to place bins in our town centres and bus stops not residential streets or pathways! These alleyways are maintained by Peabody so we haven’t got a key to access the gate to enter we will speak with Peabody and try figure out a agreement as they already have bins on the green
