Diesel Pollution - getting worse daily

Reported by Mr D Small at 09:19, Saturday 23 February 2019

Sent to Royal Borough of Greenwich less than a minute later

There is a tower of some kind (mobile phone mast maybe?) sticking out from a couple of container looking constructions which has been here months if not a year or two which seems to rely on a diesel generator for power. At first i thought it was powering lighting for construction work here but i don't think it is. However, the diesel engine is 'belching out fumes' and it runs 24/7!! Surely this is not permissible under current anti pollution regs? Can u investigate and report back please? It is a serious pollutant.

  • This was commented on by council as in progress over 3 weeks ago, but the diesel generator is still pumping out noxious fumes, very evident as you cycle past, highly polluting 24/7 yet you seem to have made no progress in stopping this pollution. Please think of locals health.

  • Still churning out diesel last time i passed, its been 'in progress' now for some time, obviously there are powers that be who are overruling our elected council powers, or are they in cahoots?

  • This has been marked as 'in progress' since February. Can u imagine how much diesel has been pumped out so far?? Cycling past it you 'retch' with the smell, far worse than sitting behind an HGV in traffic. Generator must be VERY old to belch such fumes. Come on RBG, show your green credentials-remove it!! (please?)

  • In progress? How long has it been 'in progress' and what does that entail please? nothing short of a pollution scandal going unrecorded, perhaps i should inform local news of the councils ineptitude over this?

  • Very suspicious as to why council have not stopped this. Is it something to do with Berkeley Homes as its close to their development here? And if so is council not doing anything for a reason?

  • Ha ha in 'progress' means ignored in RBG speak more like, question is ...why? I strongly suspect some kind of hold Berkeley homes have over the council, but if this were looked at as an environmental issue (which it is big time!) then the council is being negligent in its duty of care to residents in failing to stop this for possibly a year or more already.

  • Its all gone quiet, not sure why it is taking quite so long to stop a massive diesel generator pumping out fumes 24/7? Can someone from RBG enlighten us??
