Traffic increase on Birdbrook Road due to parking restrictions

Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 07:44, Thu 23 March 2017

Sent to Royal Borough of Greenwich 1 minute later

Since the closure of a lot of "free" parking sites & making a lot of the surrounding roads permit parking Birdbrook Road is now becoming dangerously congested-especially during peak times. The road is now double parked during the week, making it a nightmare for refuse collectors & emergency services to navigate. Residents with no off street parking are regularly unable to park near to their homes due to the increased commuter parking. Despite traffic calming measures a lot of traffic still uses this road at high speed. Also, bearing in mind that there is a cycle path that crosses the road & it is used for pedestrian access for the school something needs to change before there is an accident.

  • Painting more double yellow lines under the bridge at the pinch point is only going to move parking onto Birdbrook & Ridgebrook roads. If the Nelson Mandela road area, Eltham Green road & all of the new build for the Kidbrooke Village have been declared as residents' parking only why has this area not been?
